Steve starred with the ensemble cast of the critically acclaimed "Diner" as Eddie the football enthusiast who insisted his fiance take a strenuous exam on the subject before agreeing to marry her. He went on to play Carey Mahoney, an unwilling cadet in the enormously successful "Police Academy" films.

Having begun his career in television, Guttenberg made his motion picture debut starring in "The chicken Chronicles," In addition to featured roles in in a number of films including "The Boys From Brazil," some of his other television roles include the television special "Miracle On Ice" and the television series "Billy" and the Provocative ABC movie "The Day After"

While attending the school of the performing arts in New York, Guttenberg won roles in such off Broadway hits as "The Lion In Winter." He also studied with John Houseman at Julliard and later with Lee strasberg and Uta Hagen.

Through his twenty something years in the entertainment industry Steve has been in over 40 productions. He has also been a active member in many charitable groups. This year (2001) he opened Guttenhouse, the newest addition to a county program that provides an up-to-18 months resting place for some of the 1000 LA County young people who yearly leave foster care. They are former foster children who have recently been "emancipated" - an official term which means they no longer have homes within the county's foster care program. :)
